The Future’s So Bright

A solar panel array will harvest power from the sun for the next 30 years.

In the summer of 2021, the UW and Madison Gas and Electric opened a solar panel array at O’Brien Solar Fields in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, giving renewable energy efforts a 20-megawatt boost. There are 60,318 panels in the 140-acre space, and they’re designed to harvest power from the sun for the next 30 years.
