UW arts venues reopen after the pandemic shutdown.

After more than a year of pandemic restrictions and virtual events, UW–Madison performing arts venues plan to open their doors this fall. The Wisconsin Union Theater will present an impressive lineup at Shannon Hall (above), implementing COVID-19 safety measures as needed. Highlights include soprano Renée Fleming and violinist Gil Shaham.

Dance performance in Lathrop Hall

The Department of Dance stages performances in Lathrop Hall, the stately 1910 building on the National Register of Historic Places. Li Chiao-Ping and Jin-Wen Yu are among the innovative dance faculty whose troupes will perform this fall.

University theatre performance in Vilas Hall

University Theatre returns with an intriguing slate of classics and contemporary works in Vilas Hall’s Mitchell Theatre (above) and Hemsley Theatre. The productions range from Molière’s 1665 comedy Don Juan to the 2014 hit Heathers: The Musical.

The School of Music presented more than 100 virtual concerts during 2020–21. This fall, music lovers can return to the Hamel Music Center (above), Morphy Recital Hall, and Music Hall to see UW favorites such as the Pro Arte Quartet and University Opera.
