Changes are brewing at the Chazen Museum of Art — literally. In September, the museum opened the Chazen Café, a bright, welcoming spot for coffee and tea. It’s part of a long-term effort to make the museum more accessible to a wide range of visitors. The strategy also involves a new schedule — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week — that establishes the Chazen as the most-open museum among its peers. “We all lead busy lives,” says Director Amy Gilman, “and we would love to see students, community members, and tourists drop in for a few moments, for an hour, or on a schedule that makes sense to them.”
