Marching to Their Own Beat

The UW Band’s Registration Week has its own way of creating community.

In August, the UW Marching Band held a five-day training program for returning and prospective band members, called Registration (or Reg) Week. The prospectives rehearse the band’s music, learn the distinctive marching style, and, at the end of the week, audition for a spot. Returning members lighten the mood by wearing silly costumes. The tradition serves a not-so-silly purpose: creating a community that will bring joy to the Badger faithful.
