Eric Wilcots will surely face some tough days in his role as UW–Madison’s interim chancellor. June 17 was not one of those days. Wilcots gleefully handed out free Babcock scoops in Birge Hall for the annual Ice Cream Social, a gesture of appreciation for hard-working UW employees. The longtime UW astronomy professor and dean of the College of Letters & Science assumed the interim role in May while the Universities of Wisconsin searches for the next permanent chancellor.
