On December 30, the Wisconsin football team won the inaugural Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, defeating Wake Forest 42–28. As quarterback Graham Mertz x’23 danced with the trophy in the locker room, the glass football fell from its base, shattering into pieces. Following the shock, horror, and amusement captured above, the players snapped into action, “fixing” the trophy by taping a bottle of mayonnaise to it. Fans can be proud of both their performance and their resourcefulness. (They received a replacement trophy eventually.)
